El derecho a quedarse: conversar, pensar y construir futuro desde el medio rural

El pasado 16 de abril, el Monasterio de La Vid, en Burgos, acogió el primer encuentro de los “Cuaderno de La Vid”, una iniciativa impulsada por El Hueco, Cives Mundi y Fundación Oxígeno para abrir un espacio de reflexión colectiva sobre uno de los grandes desafíos de nuestro tiempo: el derecho a quedarse.

La jornada reunió a alcaldes, investigadores, técnicos, activistas y profesionales vinculados al desarrollo rural para debatir sobre cómo garantizar que cualquier persona pueda elegir libremente dónde desarrollar su proyecto de vida, sin verse obligada a abandonar su territorio por falta de vivienda, empleo, servicios o condiciones dignas.

Este primer capítulo nace además vinculado al proyecto Derecho a Quedarse, una iniciativa que busca abrir en España una conversación profunda sobre la necesidad de garantizar la igualdad territorial y la libertad real de elegir dónde vivir.

NOTEBOOKS FROM LA VID

The Right to Stay: thinking, debating and building the future from rural territories

On April 16th, the Monastery of La Vid, in Burgos (Spain), hosted the first gathering of the “Cuadernos de La Vid” (Notebooks of La Vid), an initiative promoted by El Hueco, Cives Mundi and Fundación Oxígeno to create a collective space for reflection around one of the major

challenges of our time: the right to stay.

The event brought together mayors, researchers, rural development professionals, activists and technical experts to discuss how to guarantee that people can freely choose where to build their lives, without being forced to leave their territories due to lack of housing, employment, services or decent living conditions.

This first chapter is also connected to the broader project “Derecho a Quedarse” (The Right to Stay), an initiative aimed at opening a national conversation in Spain about territorial equality and the real freedom to decide where to live.

The conclusions and discussions from this first gathering are collected in the First Notebook of La Vid, a publication that launches a series of documents intended to continue building ideas, proposals and action around the right to stay.
